Wedding in the Wood, New Forest – Penny & Rob

Wedding in the Woods

Penny & Rob’s colourful woodland wedding at Weddings in the Wood, New Forest!

There is something wonderfully freeing about a wedding that truly reflects the couple, and Penny and Rob’s celebration at Weddings in the Wood in the New Forest was exactly that! Utterly relaxed, joyful, a little bit magical, and completely true to them from start to finish.

Set deep in the New Forest, Weddings in the Wood is one of those venues that feels like a gorgeous little secret. Surrounded by tall trees, birdsong, and winding woodland paths, it is a beautiful outdoor setting for couples who want something natural, intimate, and a bit different from a traditional venue. The ceremony space sits right in the heart of the forest, up over looking the views and with plenty of space for guests to gather under the trees. It is perfect for couples who love the outdoors and want a laid back, nature filled celebration.

A woodland ceremony filled with colour and personality

Penny and Rob chose to marry outside, surrounded by the trees and an abundance of gorgeous peaches and cream florals. I’m still obsessed with Penny’s dress – instead of a traditional white gown, she chose a stunning blue dress with delicate touches of Japanese blossom! O my! It was elegant, unique, and completely her. Total babe.

In one of the most memorable moments of the day, their ceremony was led by Gandalf complete with hat and staff. Because, why not?! The moment he appeared walking up the hill just before Penny and her uncle arrived had everyone beaming from ear to ear, love it!

Embracing the rain in the New Forest

Like many New Forest weddings, the weather had its own plans. The rain made an appearance, but it did not dampen the mood in the slightest. Guests grabbed umbrellas, laughter filled the woodland clearing, and the whole day carried on with the most wonderful energy.

There is something quite special about a rainy woodland wedding. The colours become richer, the air feels fresh, and everyone naturally gathers closer together. Penny and Rob and all of their guests fully embraced it, which made for some beautifully atmospheric moments and a lot of genuine smiles.

Axe throwing and a seriously fun celebration

After the ceremony, it was time for something a little different. Instead of traditional lawn games, Penny and Rob organised axe throwing for their guests! It was such a brilliant idea and perfectly suited the woodland setting.

Wedding in the Wood will forever be one of my favoutrite New Forest evnues and I’m utterly honoured to be one of their recommended photographers; an honour I don’t take lightly! If you’d like to chat to me about me photographing your wedding at Wedding in the Woods, please do get in touch here.
