Mar 20, 2020 | March 2020, Marwell Hotel
I want to take a break from all the worrying virus talk to bring you something completely joyful and lovely; THESE TWO. Ellen & Alex and two of the most beautiful souls I’ve ever met, their laughters are infectious and their hearts are made with solid god. FACT.
As expected, their wedding was simply beautiful and bursting to the brim with love. They said their vows in the totally gorgeous and arresting Romsey Abbey in front of a lovely bunch of very happy people. Weddings are always emotional times and I often shed a little tear, but I had big, fat tears rolling down my cheeks on this day! It always makes me cry seeing the groom cry, and mix that in with a choir of children singing and I was a mess! We took full advantage of the pretty Abbey gardens for some family photos and then ventured out into the streets of Romsey for a few couples shots. These two were such great sports; thank you for letting me stand you both in front of a random old pub flapping your veil!
Once everyone arrived at Marwell Hotel they were greeted with drinks and canapes before tucking into a delicious 4 course meal. The evening kicked off with sparklers, cake and even surprise dance routine that Ellen & Alex had put together. Such a wonderful day and the most fantastic way to start my 2020 season. Congratulations lovelies, see you at Sprinkles!

Ahh where to begin with this awesome day?! Another wonderful new venue for me to explore in Hanger Farm in Southampton – one I’ve not had before but certainly hope to have again.
Rachel & Matt’s day kicked off with the ladies getting ready at the Cromwell Arms in Romsey – such an exciting morning, with a lovely “reveal” moment where Rachel showed her beautiful lace gown to her dad and bridesmaids. I love their expressions!
Romsey Abbey in Hampshire has such a wonderful atmosphere and is seeped in history, so it’s not hard to see why Rachel and Matt chose to get married there. Arriving at the Abbey Matt and the other groomsmen looked perfect matching their blue suits with that of the gorgeous bridesmaids’ dresses. During the ceremony the choir of children sang, which was deeply moving. I was glad to see that I wasn’t the only one wiping a tear away!
The grounds of Romsey Abbey were perfect for capturing the family photos in and the couple shots, whilst all the guests moved onto the reception at Hanger Farm in Southampton.
Once there, the guests were treated to a glass of bubbly whilst they waited for Rachel & Matt to arrive and cover them in confetti. One of the things I loved the most about this wedding, was the fact that Rachel hand made all of the stunningly beautiful blue felt flowers, and there were hundreds of them! A true labor of love, and what an incredibly clever and talented lady.
Rachel and Matt are part of local running club so many of their guests are sports enthusiasts too, so an iphone was propped up against the barn as guests gathered to watch the Athletics World Championship on the small screen! Go Mo!
Speeches were given, food was eaten and drinks were drunk, and as the golden sun started to set I snuck the lovely couple out to a nearby field to take some special couples shots too. A lovely day, as always, ending with a wonderful first dance!
Hope you have wonderful memories Rachel and Matt, thanks so much xx
Here are a few of my favourite photos from their lovely day – thank you to Leoni who second shot for me, some of these are hers.
